To get started as a beginning farmer, we understand that every dollar helps.

At Alabama Ag Credit, we are proud to provide additional support for beginning farmers with our JumpStart Grants. The 2024 Application to receive one of five $10,000 grants is now open below.

About the program:

  • Five $10,000 grants will be awarded to beginning farmers in 2024.
  • Applications will be accepted beginning June 28, 2024. The last day to apply is August 30, 2024
    • Winners were announced in the Fall of 2024.
    • Applicants must submit a business plan with their application. Either their own or using the linked template provided.

Applicant Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must have started farming within the past two years or plan to start a farm business in the next year.
  • Operation must be headquartered in one of the forty counties served by Alabama Ag Credit.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age; there is no maximum age.

If you don’t currently have a business plan Alabama Ag Credit has a Business Plan Template that you may use. You may use another business plan format if you prefer. Please make sure that your business plan is well thought out. The only requirement is that your business plan must contain financials or projections for your startup farm business so that we know you’ve given consideration to the financial aspect of the operation.
