Anthos Appointed Chief Credit Officer

Today we welcome Michael Anthos as Chief Credit Officer. Anthos joins the association with more than 15 years of experience in finance, credit administration, and cooperative lending, most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer at Mountain View Electric Association.
A native of a cow/calf farm in West Virginia, Anthos brings a deep personal connection to agriculture along with a proven record of strengthening credit operations, leading high-performing teams, and supporting rural communities. His background spans commercial credit, agricultural lending, capital markets, and cooperative finance across a variety of institutions including CoBank, AgFirst Farm Credit Bank, U.S. Bank, and Wells Fargo.
As Chief Credit Officer, Anthos will oversee all aspects of Alabama Ag Credit’s credit administration and underwriting functions, ensuring the association continues to meet the financial needs of farmers, landowners, agribusinesses, and rural homeowners across its service territory. He will play a key role in advancing Alabama Ag Credit’s mission, supporting the cooperative’s financial strength, and fostering sustainable growth across its $1.5 billion portfolio.

Anthos holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Accounting and has built a career distinguished by leadership roles across credit analysis, underwriting, and financial strategy. He has also served in multiple nonprofit and community leadership roles, reflecting his commitment to service and strengthening rural communities.
His broad background, combined with his passion for agriculture and dedication to cooperative values, positions him to further enhance Alabama Ag Credit’s credit culture and support the long-term success of its member-borrowers.
