Enterprise, Alabama, is renowned for its unique Boll Weevil Monument, a statue of a woman holding a boll weevil proudly displayed on Main Street. Erected in 1919, the monument commemorates the town’s agricultural shift from cotton to peanuts following the boll weevil infestation. It remains the only monument in the world dedicated to an insect pest. Enterprise also hosts an annual Boll Weevil Festival celebrating this unique piece of history.
